Other namesThe protein I am referring to is called CaM kinase II, also known as CaM kinase II gamma chain or CaM kinase II subunit gamma. It also goes by the abbreviations CAMK, CAMK II, CAMK2G, and CAMKG. Additionally, there are other subunits of CaM kinase II, namely alpha (CAMK2A) and delta (CAMK2B). The alpha subunit is also known as Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II subunit alpha or CaMK-II subunit alpha, while the delta subunit is known as Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II subunit delta or CaMK-II subunit delta. Another name for the alpha subunit is CAM2, and for the delta subunit, it is CAMKII. Furthermore, there are other names associated with CaM kinase II, including CAMKA, CAMKB, CAMKD, CaMKII alpha, and KIAA0968.

ApplicationThe recommended dilutions for this antibody are 1:1000 for Western Blotting, 1:100-1:500 for Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry, and 1:20000-1:40000 for ELISA (peptide). These dilutions have been determined based on the original text information. To obtain optimal results, it is important to follow the recommended dilution guidelines and optimize the conditions for each experiment. With the proper handling and optimization, this antibody can provide reliable and specific results for the detection of the target protein of interest in various applications.
ImmunogenA peptide that has been synthesized from the human CaMKIIbeta/gamma is currently available. The synthesized peptide closely resembles the original protein and performs similar functions. The peptide is expected to be useful in various research studies and drug development.

Target

Background

Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase that functions autonomously after Ca2+/calmodulin-binding and autophosphorylation, and is involved in sarcoplsamic reticulum Ca2+ transport in skeletal muscle and may function in dendritic spine and synapse formation and neuronal plasticity. In slow-twitch muscles, is involved in regulation of sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) Ca2+ transport and in fast-twitch muscle participates in the control of Ca2+ release from the SR through phosphorylation of the ryanodine receptor-coupling factor triadin. In neurons, may participate in the promotion of dendritic spine and synapse formation and maintenance of synaptic plasticity which enables long-term potentiation (LTP) and hippocampus-dependent learning.

Tissue specificityExpressed in skeletal muscle.
Posttranslational modificationAutophosphorylation of Thr-287 following activation by Ca2+/calmodulin. Phosphorylation of Thr-287 locks the kinase into an activated state.
