Overview

Description

Purified Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody (Pab)

Other names

Epithelial zinc finger protein EZF, also known as Gut-enriched krueppel-like factor or KLF4, is a transcription factor encoded by the Krueppel-like factor 4 gene. It plays a crucial role in various cellular processes and its expression is often associated with important biological events.
KLF4, also referred to as EZF or GKLF, is a protein that belongs to the Krueppel-like family of transcription factors. It is primarily found in epithelial cells and is known to regulate the expression of genes involved in cell differentiation, proliferation, and maintenance of tissue integrity.
Gut-enriched krueppel-like factor, or GKLF, is another name for KLF4. It is called "gut-enriched" because it is prominently expressed in the gastrointestinal tract. GKLF has been found to be involved in the development and function of the digestive system, and its dysregulation has been linked to various gastrointestinal diseases.
Overall, KLF4, also known as EZF or GKLF, is a versatile transcription factor that plays a crucial role in epithelial cells and is involved in important biological processes. Its dysregulation can have significant implications for cellular function and has been linked to various diseases.

Specificity

Our KLF4 antibody is produced through the immunization of rabbits with a synthetic peptide that is conjugated with KLH. The peptide is derived from the C-terminal region of human KLF4, specifically from amino acid positions 394 to 421. By using advanced technology, we have successfully developed a highly specific and sensitive antibody that recognizes this particular region of the KLF4 protein. This antibody can be used for various applications, including Western blot analysis, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. Stability & Storage

To ensure freshness, it is recommended to keep refrigerated at 2-8°C for a maximum of two weeks. For extended storage, it is advised to store in small aliquots at -20°C to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Storage buffer

The antibody is a purified polyclonal antibody that is provided in PBS containing 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. It is prepared using the Saturated Ammonium Sulfate (SAS) precipitation method followed by dialysis against PBS.

Research area

As a practitioner in the field of medicine and research, I have a keen interest in studying and understanding the complexities of diseases affecting individuals. Some of my areas of focus include the impact of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, developmental biology, neuroscience, and signal transduction.
My research in cancer revolves around identifying the mechanisms involved in the development, progression, and treatment of this condition. I study the underlying genetic and epigenetic changes that initiate and drive the disease, and work towards developing novel therapeutic approaches for effective management of cancer.
Similarly, my work in cardiovascular diseases delves into exploring the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to the onset of various cardiovascular conditions and identifying targets for early diagnosis and treatment. My studies in developmental biology enable me to understand the intricate processes involved in the growth and differentiation of organisms, which are crucial in identifying developmental defects and anomalies that can affect human health.
In the field of neuroscience, my research focuses on the structure, function, and connectivity of the nervous system and the underlying mechanisms that regulate these processes. Finally, my interest in signal transduction addresses the complex signaling networks that regulate cellular processes and how these pathways are involved in both normal physiological processes and pathological conditions.
In conclusion, my research spans across various fields of study, all aimed at understanding the complexities of human health and discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat various diseases.

Target

Background

This transcription factor is capable of functioning as both an activator and a repressor, binding to the 5'-CACCC-3' core sequence. It can bind to its own gene's promoter region, resulting in the activation of its own transcription. During embryonic development, it regulates the expression of key transcription factors, while also playing a crucial role in preserving the stem cells and preventing their differentiation. Moreover, it is essential for establishing the skin's barrier function and ensuring the postnatal maturation and maintenance of the ocular surface. It is also involved in epithelial cell differentiation and potentially in skeletal and kidney development. Additionally, it contributes to the suppression of p53/TP53 transcription.

Fluorescent confocal image of SY5Y cells stained with abs101273 KLF4 (C-term) antibody. SY5Y cells were fixed with 4% PFA (20 min), permeabilized with Triton X-100 (0.2%, 30 min), then incubated with abs101273 KLF4 (C-term) primary antibody (1:200, 2 h at room temperature). For secondary antibody, Alexa Fluor® 488 conjugated donkey anti-rabbit antibody (green) was used (1:1000, 1h). Cytoplasmic actin was counterstained with Alexa Fluor® 555 (red) conjugated Phalloidin (5.25 μM, 25 min). KLF4 immunoreactivity is localized very specifically to the nuclei of the SY5Y cells.
