SynonymBIT, also known as Brain Ig-like molecule with tyrosine-based activation motifs or CD172 antigen-like family member A, is an immunoglobulin-like molecule that contains tyrosine-based activation motifs. It is also referred to as CD172a antigen or inhibitory receptor SHPS-1. Another name for BIT is the macrophage fusion receptor, or MFR, which is a substrate for the tyrosine phosphatase SHP. SHPS1 is an alternative name for BIT, and it is also known as signal-regulatory protein alpha or SIRP alpha.
