Overview

Description

The urocortin (UCN) peptide is known to have the ability to stimulate the release of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) when tested in vitro. It has a strong affinity for CRF receptor subtypes 1, 2-alpha, and 2-beta, and can bind to both CRHR1 and CRHR2 through their N-terminal extracellular domains. UCN is classified as a member of the sauvagine/corticotropin-releasing factor/urotensin I family.

Other names

The molecule known as prepro-urocortin, also referred to as UCN, UCN1_HUMAN, UI, UROC, or Urotensin I, is a precursor to the peptide hormone urocortin. Urocortin is involved in a wide range of physiological processes, including stress response, appetite regulation, and cardiovascular function. The prepro-urocortin molecule contains the amino acid sequence necessary to produce urocortin, and is processed within the body to yield the active hormone. Urocortin is an important component of the body's hormonal system, and its role in various biological processes is still being studied.

Specificity

The Urocortin Antibody is specifically designed to detect the levels of Urocortin naturally present in the body. Its function is to identify and quantify the endogenous levels of this protein. To generate similar content, one could rephrase and rearrange the given text to convey the same message. For example, the Urocortin Antibody enables the detection of Urocortin at its native levels within the body. By recognizing the endogenous levels of this protein, it helps to study the role of Urocortin in various physiological and pathological conditions.

Immunogen

A synthetic peptide that has been developed from Urocortin in humans is now available. This peptide is highly similar to the original Urocortin, and has been synthesized using advanced laboratory techniques. It is believed to offer a range of potential therapeutic benefits, and may be useful in a variety of medical applications. Clinical trials are currently underway to assess the safety and effectiveness of this peptide, and early results are very promising. Overall, this synthesized peptide represents a significant advancement in the field of biotechnology, and may ultimately have a major impact on human health and well-being.

Stability & Storage

To maintain optimal conditions, it is recommended to store the product at a temperature of -20 °C for a duration of one year. It is important to prevent any freezing and thawing cycles from occurring repeatedly.

Storage buffer

The recommended storage conditions for Rabbit IgG are at -20 °C in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with a pH of 7.4. The solution should contain 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol. It is advised to store the IgG in this manner for a period of up to 12 months from the date of receipt.

Target

Background

Stimulating the secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in vitro, it has been reported that this particular molecule acts by binding with high affinity to CRF receptor types 1, 2-alpha, and 2-beta. Additionally, it is thought to contribute to the establishment of normal hearing thresholds. Furthermore, this molecule is believed to play a role in regulating food intake and ghrelin levels in the gastric body and plasma.

Tissue specificity

Keratinocytes are prevalent in the epidermis, both the outer and inner root sheaths of hair follicles, as well as the epithelium of sweat and sebaceous glands, erector pili muscles, cutaneous blood vessel walls, cutaneous nerves, and dermal mononuclear cells. Additionally, they have been detected in the lamina propria plasma cells in colon mucosa. In various studies, keratinocytes have also been found to be expressed in the pituitary and adrenal glands. These findings suggest that keratinocytes have a diverse range of functions within the body.
