Description | The LRPAP1 gene encodes a chaperone protein known as Low Density Lipoprotein Receptor-Related Protein Associated Protein 1, or RAP. This essential protein is involved in the transportation of certain members of the LDL receptor family such as LRP1 and LRP2. RAP is a glycoprotein and is capable of binding to the alpha-2-macroglobulin receptor, as well as other members of the LDL receptor family.
