Description	CD3D defects are responsible for the development of a rare inherited disorder known as severe combined immunodeficiency autosomal recessive T-cell-negative/B-cell-positive/NK-cell-positive (T(-)/B(+)/NK(+) SCID) [MIM:608971]. This condition is characterized by a severe compromise in both humoral and cell-mediated immunity, as well as leukopenia and reduced or absent antibody levels. Severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) encompasses a diverse range of genetically and clinically variant disorders that are present from birth and lead to compromised immune function. CD3D defects specifically result in the absence of T cells while allowing for the presence of B cells and natural killer (NK) cells.
