Other names	The human genome contains a gene called BRD3, also known as Bromodomain-containing protein 3 or RING3-like protein. It is encoded by the KIAA0043 gene and is sometimes referred to as Open reading frame X or ORFX. The protein contains a bromodomain, which is a structural motif that recognizes and binds acetylated lysine residues in histones. BRD3 is similar to RING3, another protein that also contains a bromodomain. BRD3 has been shown to regulate the expression of genes involved in cell cycle regulation and may be involved in the development of certain cancers. Though this protein is relatively new and not extensively studied, it appears to have significant implications for cellular processes and may be an important target for drug development.
