Description | TDGF-1, also known as Cripto, is a member of the EGF-CFC family of proteins that plays a significant role in embryogenesis and oncogenesis. This protein contains a conserved cysteine-rich domain (CFC motif) and a hydrophobic carboxy-terminal tail that facilitates its attachment to the extracellular plasma membrane via a GPI moiety. |
| Other names | Cripto, also known as TDGF1 or CRGF, is a growth factor that plays an important role in embryonic development and cancer progression. This protein is also referred to as Cripto-1 growth factor and has been shown to have epidermal growth factor-like properties. Additionally, it is implicated in the growth and migration of many types of cancer cells, making it a promising target for cancer therapy. Although much is known about the function of Cripto, there is still much to learn about its complex biology and interactions with other molecules within the body. Nevertheless, ongoing research continues to shed light on this fascinating protein and its potential as a therapeutic target. |
