Other names	Male germ cell-associated kinase (MAK), also known as intestinal cell kinase or testicular secretory protein Li 28, is a serine/threonine protein kinase expressed in a variety of tissues. The gene encoding MAK is located on chromosome 3q21 and is expressed as two protein isoforms, the canonical form and a retinal-enriched isoform. MAK has been implicated in various cellular processes, including cell division and apoptosis, and has also been linked to disease states such as cancer and heart disease. A better understanding of the role of MAK in these processes could lead to the development of new therapies for these conditions.
