Description

Fibronectin, laminin, collagen, epiligrin, thrombospondin, and CSPG4 all bind to integrin alpha-3/beta-1, making it a versatile receptor. This receptor is involved in various cellular processes such as migration of endothelial cells. In fact, it has been proposed that integrin alpha-3/beta-1 may interact with LGALS3 to enhance CSPG4-induced endothelial cell migration. This interaction highlights the intricate signaling network regulating cellular responses mediated by integrin alpha-3/beta-1 and its ligands.

Other namesCD49c, also known as Integrin alpha 3, is a galactoprotein present on the surface of certain cells. It is encoded by the ITGA3 gene and belongs to the CD49 antigen-like family. Monoclonal antibody J143 can identify this antigen. It serves as the alpha 3 subunit of the Very Late Activation Protein 3 receptor (VLA-3), responsible for mediating cell adhesion and migration. Other names for CD49c include CD49 antigen like family member C, FRP-2, GAPB3, and VCA2. The protein has been associated with a number of physiological processes, including wound healing and tissue remodeling. MSK18 and FLJ34631 are some of the aliases for this protein.

SpecificityThe Integrin α3 (CD49c) Antibody is specifically designed to recognize total Integrin α3 (CD49c) levels that naturally occur in the body. The antibody has the ability to detect endogenous levels of this protein in various biological samples. By using this antibody, researchers can easily monitor and analyze the role of Integrin α3 (CD49c) in different cellular processes.

ApplicationTo ensure accurate results in various assays, it is recommended to use the appropriate dilution factor. For Western blotting, diluting the primary antibody at a range of 1:500-1:2000 is recommended. While for immunofluorescence or immunocytochemistry, the recommended range is 1:100-1:500. The ELISA assay requires a higher dilution factor, with a range of 1:20000-1:40000 for peptide detection. By following these recommended dilution factors, researchers can ensure reliable and reproducible results in their experiments.
ImmunogenIntegrin α3 (CD49c) is the source of a synthesized peptide with a remarkable similarity to the human form. Through rearrangement, the original text information can be conveyed while maintaining the accuracy of the content.

Target

Background

Integrin alpha-3/beta-1 is a receptor for fibronectin, laminin, collagen, epiligrin, thrombospondin and CSPG4. Integrin alpha-3/beta-1 provides a docking site for FAP (seprase) at invadopodia plasma membranes in a collagen-dependent manner and hence may participate in the adhesion, formation of invadopodia and matrix degradation processes, promoting cell invasion. Alpha-3/beta-1 may mediate with LGALS3 the stimulation by CSPG4 of endothelial cells migration.

Tissue specificityIsoform 1 is widely expressed. Isoform 2 is expressed in brain and heart. In brain, both isoforms are exclusively expressed on vascular smooth muscle cells, whereas in heart isoform 1 is strongly expressed on vascular smooth muscle cells, isoform 2 is detected only on endothelial vein cells.
Posttranslational modificationIsoform 1, but not isoform 2, is phosphorylated on serine residues. Phosphorylation increases after phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate stimulation.
