Description	The receptor for interleukin 6 comprises a component that interacts with IL6, yet exhibits low affinity and lacks the ability to initiate signaling cascades. Other names	The CD126 antigen, also known as gp80 or IL 6R 1, is an important receptor involved in the signaling pathways of interleukin 6 (IL-6). This receptor is encoded by the IL6R gene and is also known as the IL-6 receptor alpha chain or IL-6 receptor subunit alpha. IL-6R alpha plays a pivotal role in immune responses and is expressed in a variety of cell types including hepatocytes, leukocytes, and endothelial cells. Identifying the function and regulation of IL-6R alpha can aid in understanding the mechanisms underlying immune and inflammatory disorders. Additionally, IL-6R alpha may have potential as a clinical target for conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and cancer. Several synonyms for IL-6R alpha have been reported, including IL-6R subunit alpha, IL-6R-alpha, IL-6RA, IL6Q, Il6r, IL6RA, IL6RA_HUMAN, IL6RQ, Interleukin 6 receptor, interleukin 6 receptor alpha, Interleukin-6 receptor subunit alpha, Membrane glycoprotein 80, and MGC30256.
