Other names	The CAAX farnesyltransferase alpha subunit, also known as FNTA, is an enzyme involved in protein prenylation. It is classified under the EC numbers 2.5.1.58 and 2.5.1.59. This alpha subunit is a component of the farnesyl protein transferase complex, responsible for attaching a farnesyl group to proteins with a CAAX box motif. Other names for this subunit include farnesyltransferase CAAX box alpha, protein farnesyltransferase/geranylgeranyltransferase type I alpha subunit, and ras proteins prenyltransferase alpha. The gene encoding this subunit is referred to as PGGT1A and PTAR2. Moreover, it is also known as GGTase-I-alpha or FTase-alpha.
