| Other names | The 46 kD coxsackievirus and adenovirus receptor (CAR) protein, also known as the Coxsackie virus B receptor or CXADR, plays a critical role in the entry of coxsackievirus and adenovirus into host cells. CAR4/6 and CVB3-binding protein are other common names for this protein. CAR is a transmembrane protein that consists of a 236-amino acid extracellular domain, a 25-amino acid transmembrane domain, and a 211-amino acid cytoplasmic domain. It is primarily expressed in epithelial cells, such as those in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts, as well as in endothelial cells and cardiomyocytes. CAR forms a homodimer that acts as a receptor for both coxsackievirus and adenovirus. The binding of these viruses to CAR triggers receptor-mediated endocytosis, allowing the viruses to enter the host cells and initiate infection. Therefore, CAR is an attractive target for antiviral therapies. Further understanding of the structure and function of CAR, as well as its interaction with coxsackievirus and adenovirus, may lead to the development of novel treatments for viral infections. |

| Application | For Western Blotting, the recommended dilution range is 1:500 to 1:1000. For Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry, a dilution range of 1:100 to 1:500 is suggested. For ELISA with a peptide substrate, the recommended dilution range is 1:20000 to 1:40000. It is important to note that these dilution ranges may need to be adjusted based on the specific experiment and sample being used. |

| purification | Using SulfoLink™ Coupling Resin, we were able to purify the antiserum through peptide affinity chromatography. The process ensured that the final product was highly refined and free of any impurities that could affect its efficacy. The resin's ability to bind to the target peptide was crucial and allowed us to efficiently isolate the antiserum. This technique is widely used in the purification of antibodies and other biomolecules and is a valuable tool in recombinant protein production. |
| Clonality | Polyclonal Antibody |
| Stability & Storage | To ensure optimal storage conditions, it is recommended to store the product at a temperature of -20 °C for one year. It is important to avoid exposing the product to repeated freeze/thaw cycles, as this can potentially affect its quality and efficacy. Taking these precautions will help to maintain the product's integrity and ensure its long-term stability. |
| Storage buffer | Rabbit IgG in phosphate buffered saline , pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol.Store at -20 °C.Stable for 12 months from date of receipt. |

Background | Component of the epithelial apical junction complex that may function as a homophilic cell adhesion molecule and is essential for tight junction integrity. Also involved in transepithelial migration of leukocytes through adhesive interactions with JAML a transmembrane protein of the plasma membrane of leukocytes. The interaction between both receptors also mediates the activation of gamma-delta T-cells, a subpopulation of T-cells residing in epithelia and involved in tissue homeostasis and repair. Upon epithelial CXADR-binding, JAML induces downstream cell signaling events in gamma-delta T-cells through PI3-kinase and MAP kinases. It results in proliferation and production of cytokines and growth factors by T-cells that in turn stimulate epithelial tissues repair. |
| Tissue specificity | Expressed in pancreas, brain, heart, small intestine, testis, prostate and at a lower level in liver and lung. Isoform 5 is ubiquitously expressed. Isoform 3 is expressed in heart, lung and pancreas. In skeletal muscle, isoform 1 is found at the neuromuscular junction and isoform 2 is found in blood vessels. In cardiac muscle, isoform 1 and isoform 2 are found at intercalated disks. In heart expressed in subendothelial layers of the vessel wall but not in the luminal endothelial surface. Expression is elevated in hearts with dilated cardiomyopathy. |
| Posttranslational modification | N-glycosylated.Palmitoylated on Cys-259 and/or Cys-260; required for proper localization to the plasma membrane. |
| Celluar localization | Extracellular region or secreted;Nucleus;Plasma Membrane; |
