Other names	The CD177 molecule is also known as the CD177 antigen and is encoded by the CD177 gene. It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked membrane protein that is expressed on the surface of neutrophils. CD177 is also known as HNA-2a, which is a human neutrophil alloantigen. The NB1 glycoprotein is another name for CD177 and it is also referred to as NB1 GP. Additionally, CD177 is associated with two medical conditions - Polycythemia rubra vera 1 (PRV-1) and Polycythemia rubra vera protein 1. PRV-1 is a precursor to myeloid malignancies, and its expression is elevated in patients with polycythemia vera and other myeloid neoplasms. As such, CD177 is a significant factor in the pathogenesis of these conditions. CD177 plays a role in neutrophil function, adhesion, and migration. It has been suggested that CD177 expression on neutrophils is associated with an increased ability to participate in inflammation and that it contributes to the activation of neutrophils via signal transduction pathways. In conclusion, CD177 is a GPI-anchored glycoprotein located on the surface of neutrophils with a major role in neutrophil function, adhesion, and migration.
