The protein is encoded by the MYD1 gene and is also known as P84 or protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type substrate 1 (PTPNS1). Under different names like SHPS1, Signal-regulatory protein alpha (SIRP alpha), or Sirp-alpha-1, -2, and -3, this molecule exhibits its role as a substrate for tyrosine-protein phosphatase.
