Background

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is a crucial protein found in serum, with normal levels ranging between 8-17 mg/mL in adult blood. Our bodies rely on IgG to protect against harmful microorganisms, as these molecules are produced by B lymphocytes as part of our adaptive immune response. The IgG molecule serves two primary functions: to bind to the pathogen responsible for the immune response, and to recruit other molecules and cells to combat the foreign invader. This robust pool of IgG is generated by somatic recombination, ultimately resulting in an estimated 1011 variants specific to each individual at any given time.
