Siglec-8, also known as sialoadhesin family member 2 or SAF-2, belongs to the Siglec family of proteins. It is a sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin and is primarily expressed by human eosinophils and mast cells. Siglec-8 has been found to play a crucial role in the regulation of allergic responses and the maintenance of immune homeostasis. It is involved in the inhibition of eosinophil degranulation and the induction of eosinophil apoptosis. Moreover, Siglec-8 is a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of eosinophil-associated diseases like asthma and atopic dermatitis. SAF2 is another name used to refer to Siglec-8. It is a protein of great interest due to its biological functions and its potential as a target for drug development.

To keep the product fresh, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator between 2-8°C for a maximum of 14 days. For extended storage, it is best to store the product in small portions at -20°C to prevent any damage caused by repeated freezing and thawing.

Storage buffer

The provided polyclonal antibody has been purified and is supplied in PBS along with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. The purification process involved passing the antibody through a protein G column and subsequently eluting it using high and low pH buffers. The eluted antibody was immediately neutralized and then subjected to dialysis against PBS.

Target

Background

A possible adhesion molecule involved in sialic acid-mediated cell binding is speculated to exist. This adhesion molecule exhibits a strong affinity for alpha-2,3-linked sialic acid but also has the ability to bind to alpha-2,6-linked sialic acid. Given the possibility of cis interactions with sialic acids present on the same cell surface, the sialic acid recognition region may be concealed.
