It can also be identified by other names such as Eti1, MGC119190, OTTHUMP00000164402, S39A2_HUMAN, and SLC39A2. hZIP2 is responsible for transporting zinc ions across cellular membranes. Additionally, it is categorized as a Zrt and Irt-like protein 2 or ZIP-2. The primary function of hZIP2 is to facilitate the uptake of zinc into cells.
