Description

Vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 (VAMP2), also known as synaptobrevin, plays a crucial role in the R-soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) complex (1). This complex is responsible for facilitating vesicular transport and membrane fusion processes, which are tightly regulated by calcium (2). Interestingly, VAMP2 is primarily found in presynaptic vesicle membranes within neurons. The assembly of VAMP2 with other SNARE proteins, such as syntaxin 1 and SNAP25, is a critical step in enabling membrane fusion and the subsequent release of neurotransmitters (2). However, the significance of VAMP2 extends beyond neuronal functions. It is also involved in granule exocytosis in neutrophils (3), as well as the release of bioactive peptides from cardiac myocytes (4) and juxtaglomerular cells (5). These diverse roles highlight the multifaceted nature of VAMP2 and its importance in various cellular processes.

SpecificityThe total VAMP2 levels within the organism can be detected using the VAMP2 Antibody, which is capable of identifying the endogenous amounts of this protein. To elaborate, this antibody specifically targets and recognizes the complete VAMP2 protein present in the organism. By utilizing this antibody, researchers can effectively measure and analyze the levels of total VAMP2 in various biological samples. It is important to note that this antibody is designed to accurately detect the endogenous levels of VAMP2 protein, providing valuable insights into its expression and potential functional roles.
