Description | The tumor necrosis factor receptor family is crucial in regulating apoptosis in various physiological systems, and includes TNF-RI, Fas, DR3, DR4, DR5, and DR6 (1,2). These receptors are activated by a family of cytokines such as TNF, FasL, and TRAIL, and are characterized by highly conserved extracellular and intracellular regions containing cysteine-rich repeats and a death domain (DD), respectively. The DD is key in transducing the death signal by recruiting other DD-containing adaptor proteins (FADD, TRADD, RIP) to the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC), resulting in the activation of caspases. |
| Other names | Protein Fas, also known as Apoptosis inducing protein TRICK2A/2B or Apoptosis inducing receptor TRAIL R2, is an important molecule involved in cell death signaling. It is also referred to as CD262 or CD262 antigen. This protein, also known as Cytotoxic TRAIL receptor 2 or Death domain containing receptor for TRAIL/Apo 2L, plays a critical role in mediating apoptosis. Known by various names such as Death receptor 5, DR5, KILLER, KILLER/DR5, OTTHUMP00000123492, and OTTHUMP00000123493, this receptor is a regulator of p53-regulated DNA damage inducible cell death. It is also referred to as TNF related apoptosis inducing ligand receptor 2 or TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand receptor 2. TRAIL R2, alternatively known as TR10B_HUMAN, TRAIL receptor 2, TRAIL-R2, TRAILR2, TRICK2, TRICK2A, TRICK2B, TRICKB, Tumor necrosis factor receptor like protein ZTNFR9, or Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 10B, is an integral part of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. It is important to rearrange and present the information while maintaining accuracy and coherence. |

| Specificity | The DR5 Antibody is capable of recognizing the amount of total TNFRSF10B that is present within an organism. This detection method does not involve any external agents and is entirely based on the endogenous levels of protein. In summary, the DR5 Antibody serves as a reliable tool for accurately assessing the amounts of TNFRSF10B that are present within an organism. |

Background | Receptor for the cytotoxic ligand TNFSF10/TRAIL (PubMed:10549288). The adapter molecule FADD recruits caspase-8 to the activated receptor. The resulting death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase-8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartate-specific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. Promotes the activation of NF-kappa-B. Essential for ER stress-induced apoptosis. |
| Tissue specificity | Widely expressed in adult and fetal tissues; very highly expressed in tumor cell lines such as HeLaS3, K-562, HL-60, SW480, A-549 and G-361; highly expressed in heart, peripheral blood lymphocytes, liver, pancreas, spleen, thymus, prostate, ovary, uterus, placenta, testis, esophagus, stomach and throughout the intestinal tract; not detectable in brain. |
| Celluar localization | Plasma Membrane; |
