Description

TAF6L is an essential component of the PCAF complex, a crucial factor involved in histone acetylation within the nucleosome. The PCAF complex, akin to the yeast SAGA complex, comprises TAF5, TAF5L, TAF6, TAF6L, TAF9, TAF10, and TAF12, along with PCAF and PCAF-associated factors (PAFs), which include TADA2L/ADA2, TADA3L/ADA3, and SPT3. As a member of the TAF6 family, TAF6L is an integral part of the STAGA transcription coactivator-HAT complex, which also features SUPT3H, GCN5L2, TAF5L, TAF6L, SUPT7L, TADA3L, TAD1L, TAF10, TAF12, TRRAP, and TAF9. Overall, TAF6L has a key role in facilitating histone acetylation and gene activation as part of the PCAF and STAGA complexes.
