Other names	STAM-binding protein, also known as AMSH or MICCAP, is an endosome-associated ubiquitin isopeptidase. It is involved in the deubiquitination of endosomal membrane proteins and plays a role in regulating endocytic trafficking. AMSH contains an SH3 domain that binds to the STAM protein, which is also involved in endosomal sorting. The molecular function of AMSH is to trim ubiquitin chains from substrate proteins, allowing them to be sorted for degradation or recycling. Two isoforms of AMSH have been identified, encoded by the MGC126516 and MGC126518 genes. Overall, AMSH is an important player in the regulation of endocytic trafficking and protein turnover.
