Description

SCRN2 (secernin-2) is a peptidase C69 family protein consisting of 425 amino acids. It is one of the three paralogs present in the SCRN (Secernin) gene family, the other two being SCRN1 and SCRN3. Interestingly, each of these paralogs is closely associated with a specific cluster in the human genome. SCRN1 is linked to the HOXA cluster, SCRN2 to the HOXB cluster, and SCRN3 to the HOXD cluster.
The topology of vertebrate SCRN genes follows the pattern (A)(BC), with SCRN2 falling outside the SCRN3–SCRN1 cluster. In the case of humans, SCRN2 is located on chromosome 17q21.32. Chromosome 17 is quite substantial, comprising more than 2.5% of the human genome. It spans approximately 81 million bases and contains over 1,200 genes.
It is worth noting that chromosome 17 is associated with various genetic disorders. Neurofibromatosis, a condition characterized by the development of neural and epidermal lesions along with abnormal growth of Schwann cells, is one such disorder. Additionally, chromosome 17 is also linked to Alexander disease, Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome, and Canavan disease.
Across different species, including dog, cow, mouse, rat, and zebrafish, the SCRN2 gene remains conserved, implying its importance in biological processes shared among vertebrates. Hence, SCRN2 and its associated gene family play significant roles in various aspects of vertebrate development and physiology.

ApplicationFor Western blotting, dilute the primary antibody at a range of 1:500 to 1:2000. For immunohistochemistry, the recommended dilution of the primary antibody is between 1:50 and 1:200. In case of immunofluorescence and immunocytochemistry, we suggest a dilution range of 1:100-1:500. For ELISA (peptide), we recommend a dilution of 1:20000-1:40000. Please note that these dilution ranges are based on the original information provided and should be followed accordingly for optimum results.
