Description

The trypsinogen gene is responsible for encoding a serine protease known as trypsinogen, which belongs to the trypsin family. This particular enzyme is secreted by the pancreas and undergoes cleavage to become active within the small intestine. It primarily acts on peptide linkages that involve the carboxyl group of lysine or arginine. Individuals who carry mutations in this gene may be susceptible to hereditary pancreatitis. Interestingly, this gene, along with other trypsinogen genes, is located in the T cell receptor beta locus on chromosome 7. This information was obtained from RefSeq in July 2008.

Other namesThe protein Alpha-trypsin chain 2, also known as Beta-trypsin, Cationic trypsinogen, or Trypsin I, is a digestive zymogen that is critical for the breakdown of proteins in the small intestine. It is encoded by the Prss1 gene and belongs to the family of serine proteases. Nonfunctional trypsin 1, also known as TRYP1 or TRY4, is a less functional variant of trypsin that is expressed primarily in the skin and may play a role in melanin synthesis. TCR V beta 4.1 and TRP1 are unrelated proteins that share similar names with trypsin, but have entirely different functions. Overall, trypsin and its variants are important players in a variety of biological processes and have been the subject of extensive research.

SpecificityThe endogenous levels of total PRSS1 can be detected using the PRSS1 Antibody. The PRSS1 Antibody is designed to specifically recognize and bind to total PRSS1 present in the sample. This enables researchers to study and analyze the expression levels of PRSS1 in various biological samples. By utilizing the PRSS1 Antibody, researchers can gain insights into the role and regulation of PRSS1 in different physiological and pathological processes.

ApplicationHere are the revised versions of the original content:
1. For western blotting, the recommended dilution range is 1:500 to 1:2000. When it comes to immunohistochemistry, the appropriate dilution range is 1:50 to 1:200. As for ELISA using the peptide, the optimal concentration range is 1:20000 to 1:40000.
2. When performing western blot analysis, make sure to dilute the sample in the range of 1:500 to 1:2000. For immunohistochemistry, the recommended dilution range is 1:50 to 1:200. When it comes to ELISA using the peptide, the most suitable dilution range is between 1:20000 and 1:40000.
3. Depending on the experiment, the recommended dilution range for western blotting may vary between 1:500 to 1:2000. Immunohistochemistry requires a dilution range of 1:50 to 1:200. ELISA using the peptide should be performed at a concentration range of 1:20000 to 1:40000.

Target

Background

Has activity against the synthetic substrates Boc-Phe-Ser-Arg-Mec, Boc-Leu-Thr-Arg-Mec, Boc-Gln-Ala-Arg-Mec and Boc-Val-Pro-Arg-Mec. The single-chain form is more active than the two-chain form against all of these substrates.

Posttranslational modificationOccurs in a single-chain form and a two-chain form, produced by proteolytic cleavage after Arg-122.Sulfation at Tyr-154 increases selectivity towards basic versus apolar residues at the P2' position of inhibitors that bind in a substrate-like fashion. Although the increase in selectivity is relatively small, it may facilitate digestion of a broader range of dietary proteins.
Celluar localizationExtracellular region or secreted;
UniPortP07477
