Other names	L27a hydroxylase, a 60S ribosomal protein, is involved in histidine hydroxylation. MINA, also known as FLJ14393, is a bifunctional enzyme that acts as a lysine-specific demethylase and histidyl hydroxylase. It is responsible for demethylating histones and hydroxylating histidines. MINA is also referred to as MDIG, MINA_HUMAN, Mineral dust-induced gene protein, Myc induced nuclear antigen 53 kDa, MYC induced nuclear antigen, MYC-induced nuclear antigen, NO52, Nucleolar protein 52, Ribosomal oxygenase MINA, and ROX. These different names highlight the multiple functions and associations of MINA in various cellular processes.

Also catalyzes the hydroxylation of 60S ribosomal protein L27a on 'His-39'. May play an important role in cell growth and survival. May be involved in ribosome biogenesis, most likely during the assembly process of pre-ribosomal particles.
