Other names	Nephrocystin-5, also known as IQ calmodulin-binding motif containing 1 or IQ motif containing B1, is a protein encoded by the IQCB1 gene in humans. This protein contains an IQ calmodulin-binding motif, which enables it to interact with calmodulin, a calcium-binding protein involved in many cellular processes. Additionally, IQCB1 has been identified as a p53 and DNA damage-regulated IQ motif protein, suggesting a possible role in DNA damage response pathways. IQCB1 is also referred to as SLSN5, and mutations in this gene have been associated with Joubert syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by brain abnormalities and developmental delay.
