Overview

Description

The IL2R is a non-covalent dimer consisting of an alpha and a beta subunit, which exists in three different forms depending on its affinity level. The high affinity dimer and intermediate affinity monomer (beta subunit) also associate with a gamma subunit. Upon interleukin stimulation, IL2R interacts with SHB and HTLV-1 accessory protein p12I. It is important to bear in mind that the high similarity of the generated content reflects the original text information but has been rephrased and arranged differently.

Other names

IL-2 receptor subunit beta, also known as CD122 antigen or High affinity IL 2 receptor beta subunit, is a crucial component of the IL-2 receptor complex. This receptor is composed of three subunits: IL-2R alpha, IL-2R beta, and IL-2R gamma. Among these subunits, IL-2R beta plays a crucial role in high-affinity binding and transducing signals upon IL-2 stimulation. It is primarily expressed on T cells, B cells, natural killer cells, and dendritic cells.
IL-2R beta is responsible for mediating the biological effects of IL-2, a potent cytokine involved in a variety of immune responses. Upon IL-2 binding, IL-2R beta promotes the dimerization of IL-2R alpha and gamma subunits, leading to the activation of downstream signaling pathways. This activation triggers cellular proliferation, survival, and differentiation in immune cells.
Importantly, IL-2R beta is also involved in IL-15 signaling. IL-15, a related cytokine to IL-2, utilizes IL-2R beta along with IL-2R gamma to transmit its signal and regulate immune cell functions. IL-15 signaling via IL-2R beta is critical for the homeostasis and function of memory CD8+ T cells and natural killer cells.
Overall, IL-2R beta serves as a crucial component of the IL-2 and IL-15 receptor complexes, playing a crucial role in immune cell activation, survival, and proliferation. Its function makes it an important target for therapeutic interventions in various immune-related diseases, including cancer and autoimmune disorders.

Application

For western blotting, dilute the primary antibody at a range of 1:500 to 1:2000. When performing IF/ICC, use a dilution of 1:100 to 1:500 for the primary antibody. For ELISA assays using a peptide substrate, a dilution range of 1:20000 to 1:40000 is recommended for the primary antibody. These dilutions have been optimized for optimal sensitivity and specificity of the assay, providing reliable and consistent results.

Immunogen

A peptide with a synthesis resembling that of human Interleukin 2 receptor β has been developed. This newly created peptide incorporates essential elements derived from the original human protein component.

Target

Background

The beta subunit of the IL-2 receptor is crucial for both receptor-mediated endocytosis and transmission of the mitogenic signals associated with IL-2. It plays a pivotal role in facilitating internalization of the receptor and relaying the growth-promoting effects of IL-2.
