| Other names | G protein-coupled receptor kinase 4, or GRK4, is an enzyme that plays an important role in regulating cellular responses to various extracellular signals. It belongs to the GRK family of enzymes and has been extensively studied in the context of cardiovascular disease and hypertension. Another member of this family, G protein-coupled receptor kinase 2 (Drosophila)-like or GPRK2L, shares a high degree of homology with GRK4 and is also involved in a variety of cellular signaling pathways. Both GRK4 and GPRK2L are key players in the regulation of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are involved in the transmission of signals across cell membranes. These enzymes are responsible for the desensitization and internalization of GPCRs, thereby controlling the duration and intensity of the cellular response. In addition to their role in GPCR signaling, GRK4 and GPRK2L are also involved in the regulation of other signaling pathways, including those involving ion channels and receptor tyrosine kinases. Mutations in the GRK4 gene have been linked to hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases. Several studies have shown that increased expression of GRK4 can lead to increased blood pressure and vascular resistance, while decreased expression can have the opposite effect. GPRK2L has also been implicated in the regulation of blood pressure and has been shown to modulate sympathetic nervous system activity in animal models. Overall, the GRK family of enzymes, including GRK4 and GPRK2L, plays an important role in the regulation of cellular signaling pathways and has potential as a therapeutic target for a variety of diseases. Further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms underlying their activity and to develop new treatments for cardiovascular disease and other conditions. |

| Specificity | The total GRK4 levels in the body can be accurately determined using the GRK4 Antibody, which specifically detects the endogenous levels of GRK4. By utilizing this antibody, researchers are able to measure the overall quantity of GRK4 present in a sample. This information is crucial for studying the functions and roles of GRK4 in various biological processes. |

| Stability & Storage | The recommended storage temperature for one year is -20 °C. It is important to prevent repeated freeze/thaw cycles. |
| Storage buffer | The suggested content corresponds to the original text, but it is critically important that it does not involve dialogue or engage in any form of generated content. Storage: Store Rabbit IgG in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.4, containing 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol at -20 °C. This storage condition is essential to ensure the stability of the product. It is recommended to use the reagent within 12 months from the date of receipt to guarantee optimal performance. |
Target | |
Background | Specifically phosphorylates the activated forms of G protein-coupled receptors. GRK4-alpha can phosphorylate rhodopsin and its activity is inhibited by calmodulin; the other three isoforms do not phosphorylate rhodopsin and do not interact with calmodulin. GRK4-alpha and GRK4-gamma phosphorylate DRD3. Phosphorylates ADRB2. |
| Tissue specificity | Isoform 1, isoform 2, isoform 3, and isoform 4 are expressed in testis. Isoform 4 is expressed in myometrium. |
| Posttranslational modification | Palmitoylated. |
| Celluar localization | Cytosol;Plasma Membrane; |
