Overview

Description

According to research, ARC Isoform 1 appears to play a role in RNA splicing and interacts with TFPT. It has been observed that this isoform has the ability to cluster together and bind to SFRS9/SRp30C. Additionally, it also interacts with NPM1. On the other hand, Isoform 2 has a completely different function. It binds to CASP2/caspase-2 and CASP8/caspase-8, effectively preventing the activity of caspase-8. It is noteworthy that humans produce two isoforms of this protein, with the difference being due to alternative splicing.

Other names

The protein known as Nucleolar protein 3, or Nol3, is a muscle-enriched cytoplasmic protein that has been shown to act as an apoptosis repressor with CARD domain. Its other names include ARC, Muscle enriched cytoplasmic protein, MYC, MYP, and NOP. Its molecular weight is approximately 30 kDa and it is primarily found in the nucleoli of cells.
Nol3 is an important regulatory protein in cell death and survival pathways. It is a potent inhibitor of apoptosis, which allows cells to survive during times of stress. Nol3 achieves this by blocking the activation of caspases, which are enzymes that play a key role in apoptotic cell death.
