Description	Collagen type III is one of the most commonly found types of connective tissue within the body, typically found alongside collagen type I. As a member of the fibrillar collagen family, it is composed of trimer structures consisting of identical alpha 1(III) chains, which are bound together through interchain disulfide bonds and cross-linked via hydroxylysines. There are two identified isoforms of collagen type III in humans, produced via alternative splicing. Other names	The alpha 1 type III collagen is also known as COL3A1 or collagen type III alpha 1. It is a precursor polypeptide that forms a chain of collagen.
