Target | |
Background | This particular gene belongs to a group of genes whose levels of RNA are elevated when conditions of growth arrest become stressful or when subjected to agents that damage DNA. The protein that this gene encodes responds to environmental stressors by facilitating the activation of the p38/JNK pathway through the MTK1/MEKK4 kinase. Both p53-dependent and p53-independent mechanisms are involved in the transcription of this gene, which is induced by DNA damage. Numerous alternatively spliced transcript variants have been discovered, encoding dissimilar isoforms of this gene. |

Data Examples

In this study, we performed Western blot analysis on extracts obtained from different cell lines. Our aim was to investigate the expression of GADD45A protein using a specific antibody.
Multiple cell lines were used in this analysis, and their protein extracts were prepared. These cell lines represent diverse cellular backgrounds and are commonly used in biomedical research.
To perform the Western blot analysis, the protein extracts were separated by gel electrophoresis according to their molecular weights. Subsequently, the proteins were transferred onto a membrane and probed with the GADD45A antibody.
The GADD45A antibody specifically recognizes and binds to the GADD45A protein. After washing away any unbound antibodies, the membrane was treated with a secondary antibody conjugated with a detection enzyme. This enzyme catalyzes a reaction that produces a detectable signal, enabling the visualization of the GADD45A protein bands on the membrane.
The Western blot analysis revealed the presence and relative abundance of GADD45A in the different cell lines. By comparing the intensity of the protein bands, quantitative information about GADD45A expression levels can be obtained. This analysis provides valuable insights into the role of GADD45A in different cellular contexts and potentially uncovers its involvement in various biological processes.
Overall, Western blot analysis using the GADD45A antibody serves as a powerful tool to investigate the expression of GADD45A protein in different cell lines and contributes to our understanding of its functional implications.
