Immunogen | A fusion protein that has been created using recombinant technology is now available. This protein contains a specific sequence that corresponds to amino acids 122-351 of the human WNT4 protein (NP_110388.2). This sequence has been carefully engineered to ensure maximum similarity to the original protein and to preserve its important biological functions. With this fusion protein, researchers and scientists now have a powerful tool in their arsenal for studying WNT4 and its role in human physiology and disease. |

Background | The WNT gene family is comprised of genes encoding signaling proteins, linked to important developmental processes and oncogenesis. One of these genes, which shares strong similarities to the Wnt4 protein in mice and rats, has been shown to influence the sex-determination cascade. Through its protein product, this gene coordinates with a nuclear receptor, responsible for preventing testes formation and promoting female development. Additionally, this gene, as well as two other family members, WNT2 and WNT7B, appear to be associated with abnormal proliferation in breast tissue. Mutations in this gene have been linked to SERKAL syndrome and Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome. |
