By interacting with the EGF/TGF-alpha receptor, this protein facilitates the growth of normal epithelial cells while restraining the growth of certain aggressive carcinoma cell lines. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in the development of mammary glands, oocytes, and bone tissues.
