Overview

Description

S-tag, a derivative of pancreatic ribonuclease A (RNase A), is an oligopeptide that plays a significant role in biochemical research. When RNase A is subjected to digestion by subtilisin, a specific peptide bond is cleaved, resulting in two separate products that remain weakly bound to each other and to the protein. This complex, known as ribonuclease S, retains its enzymatic activity, unlike the individual products. The N-terminus of RNase A, referred to as S-peptide or S15, is composed of 20 amino acid residues, with only the first 15 being necessary for ribonuclease activity. The S-tag itself consists of the amino acid sequence KETAAAKFERQHMDS, coupled to KLH. An important aspect of the S-tag is its ability to recognize S-tagged proteins, irrespective of whether the tag is located at the C-terminal, internal, or N-terminal region. This makes the S-tag antibody a valuable tool in the detection and analysis of S-tagged proteins in various research applications.

Other names

H3 histone family, member A, also known as H3.3A, belongs to the HIST1 cluster. It is a member of the H3 histone family, which includes various isoforms such as H3E, H3.1, H3/l, H3F3, H3FF, H3FJ, H3FL, and more. The histone gene cluster 1 comprises H3 histone family members E, A, B, C, D, F, G, H, I, and J.
Additionally, other variants like H3.1t and H3/o, as well as FLJ92264, are associated with H3 histone family. The term H3 is commonly used to refer to histone H3 in general. Within this family, there are also members H3B, H3C, H3D, H3F, H3G, H3H, H3I, H3J, H3K, H3L, and H3T.
These histone proteins play crucial roles in the structure and function of chromatin, the complex of DNA, and proteins that make up chromosomes. They contribute to DNA packaging, gene regulation, and other essential cellular processes.
In summary, the H3 histone family consists of various members such as H3.3A, H3.1, and H3F3A, among others. They are part of the histone gene cluster 1, contributing to chromatin structure and functioning in a variety of biological processes.
