There are many different names for the enzyme EC 4.2.2.2, including pectate lyase, alpha-1,4-D-endopolygalacturonic acid lyase, and endo-alpha-1,4-polygalacturonic acid lyase. It is also sometimes called endogalacturonate transeliminase, endopectin methyltranseliminase, or pectate transeliminase. Other names for this enzyme include pectic acid lyase, pectic acid transeliminase, pectic lyase, and pectin trans-eliminase. It is sometimes referred to as PGA lyase, polygalacturonate lyase, or polygalacturonic acid lyase, as well as polygalacturonic acid trans-eliminase or polygalacturonic transeliminase. Some people also know this enzyme as PPase-N. Despite the many different names, they are all referring to the same enzyme.
