Background | This particular gene belongs to the tripartite motif (TRIM) family, which contains three zinc-binding domains: a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, as well as a coiled-coil region. The RoSSA ribonucleoprotein complex consists of a single polypeptide and four small RNA molecules and can be found in both the cytoplasm and the nucleus. RoSSA has been shown to interact with autoantigens in individuals with Sjogren syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. Although multiple variants of this gene have been identified, only one has been fully characterized. |
