The TAZ protein, encoded by the TAZ gene, plays a crucial role in this condition. It is associated with Endocardial fibroelastosis 2, a heart condition characterized by the thickening of the heart's inner lining. Patients with Barth syndrome may experience symptoms such as dilated cardiomyopathy, muscle weakness, fatigue, and growth delays.
