abs139407
Other namesPim 2 oncogene, also known as PIM2, is a serine threonine kinase that plays a role in cellular proliferation and survival. The gene encoding Pim 2 is referred to as OTTHUMP00000025825. Pim 2h and Pim-2h are alternative names for the protein encoded by this gene. PIM2_HUMAN is the official gene symbol for PIM2 in humans.
PIM2 is considered a proto-oncogene, meaning that its altered expression or activity can contribute to the development of cancer. It is involved in various signaling pathways that regulate cell growth and survival. Serine/threonine kinase PIM2 phosphorylates target proteins to mediate its biological functions.
In conclusion, PIM2 is an important oncogene that acts as a serine/threonine kinase to promote cell proliferation and survival. It plays a critical role in cancer development and progression.
SourceRabbit
SpecificityThe antibody against PIM2 is capable of identifying the entirety of endogenous PIM2 levels. This means that it can recognize all forms of PIM2 that occur naturally within a cell or organism.

Stability & StorageTo preserve the quality of the product, it is recommended that it be stored at a temperature of -20 °C. This will ensure the stability of the product for a period of one year. It is important to avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, as this can have a negative impact on the product. Hence, it is a good practice to store the product in a suitable facility that maintains the recommended temperature and avoids any fluctuations that can compromise the quality of the product.
Storage bufferThis product is Rabbit IgG dissolved in a phosphate buffered saline solution with a pH of 7.4. It contains 150 millimolar NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol. We recommend storing this product at a temperature of -20 Celsius. It is stable for a period of 12 months from the date of receipt.

Target

Background

Proto-oncogene with serine/threonine kinase activity involved in cell survival and cell proliferation. Exerts its oncogenic activity through: the regulation of MYC transcriptional activity, the regulation of cell cycle progression, the regulation of cap-dependent protein translation and through survival signaling by phosphorylation of a pro-apoptotic protein, BAD. Phosphorylation of MYC leads to an increase of MYC protein stability and thereby an increase transcriptional activity. The stabilization of MYC exerted by PIM2 might explain partly the strong synergism between these 2 oncogenes in tumorigenesis. Regulates cap-dependent protein translation in a mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1)-independent manner and in parallel to the PI3K-Akt pathway. Mediates survival signaling through phosphorylation of BAD, which induces release of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-X(L)/BCL2L1. Promotes cell survival in response to a variety of proliferative signals via positive regulation of the I-kappa-B kinase/NF-kappa-B cascade; this process requires phosphorylation of MAP3K8/COT. Promotes growth factor-independent proliferation by phosphorylation of cell cycle factors such as CDKN1A and CDKN1B. Involved in the positive regulation of chondrocyte survival and autophagy in the epiphyseal growth plate.

Tissue specificityHighly expressed in hematopoietic tissues, in leukemic and lymphoma cell lines, testis, small intestine, colon and colorectal adenocarcinoma cells. Weakly expressed in normal liver, but highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues.
Posttranslational modificationAutophosphorylated.
