Description | This cytokine belongs to the IL10 family and was first identified as a gene induced during terminal differentiation of melanoma cells. The protein encoded by this gene can selectively trigger apoptosis in various cancer cells. Overexpression of this gene leads to increased expression of several GADD family genes, which has been linked to apoptosis induction. In melanoma cells, but not in normal immortal melanocytes, this gene has been found to induce the phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase 14 (MAPK7/P38) and heat shock 27kDa protein 1 (HSPB2/HSP27). Various isoforms of this gene have been reported due to alternative splicing. [RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
| Other names | Interleukin-24, also known as IL-24, IL10B, IL24_HUMAN, or Melanoma differentiation-associated gene 7 protein, is a protein encoded by the IL24 gene. It is also referred to as C49A, FISP, IL 24, IL-4 induced secreted protein, MDA-7, MDA7, Melanocyte associated Mda 7, Melanoma differentiation association protein 7, Mob5, ST16, or Suppression of tumorigenicity 16 (melanoma differentiation). IL-24 is a secreted cytokine belonging to the IL-10 family and plays a role in anti-tumor immune responses. It is involved in various cellular processes, including apoptosis, tumor suppression, and immune modulation. IL-24 has gained attention as a potential therapeutic agent for cancer treatment due to its ability to selectively induce cancer cell death while sparing normal cells. Further research and understanding of IL-24 may contribute to the development of novel cancer therapies. |

| Specificity | The endogenous levels of total IL24 can be effectively detected using the IL24 Antibody. Please rearrange the above content to generate highly similar information: The IL24 Antibody is capable of detecting the total IL24 levels that naturally occur within the body. |

| Antigen | IL24 |
| Application | The dilution recommended for Western blot analysis is 1:500-1:2000, while for immunohistochemistry, it is 1:50-1:200. For ELISA assays using peptides, a suggested dilution range is 1:20000-1:40000. It is important to note that these dilution recommendations may need to be optimized for individual experiments, depending on the specific assay conditions and the sample being tested. It is also critical to use appropriate controls and compare the results to relevant published literature or data to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the experimental findings. |
