Description | IL-17A is a pro-inflammatory cytokine produced by a distinct CD4+ T cell lineage known as Th17 cells. This cystine-linked homodimeric cytokine has been shown to stimulate the production of other pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. IL-17A also plays a vital role in innate immunity by inducing the production of neutrophil chemoattractants like CXCL1, CXCL6, and IL-8. Interestingly, this cytokine is also involved in mucosal immunity particularly against bacterial infections, but it has also been implicated in some autoimmune disorders. |
| Other names | CTLA-8, also known as Cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated antigen 8 or Cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated protein 8, is a protein involved in immune responses. It is also referred to as Cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated serine esterase 8 or Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 8. Another name for this protein is Interleukin 17A (IL-17A), which is part of the Interleukin-17 (IL-17) family. IL-17A plays a role in inflammation and immune regulation. It is encoded by the IL17A gene and is sometimes denoted as IL17 or IL17A. In mice, the corresponding gene is referred to as Il17a. These names and acronyms are used to describe the same protein molecule. |

| Specificity | The IL17A Antibody is capable of detecting total IL17A levels in the body. Its function is to recognize and bind to endogenous forms of IL17A. This antibody is highly useful in research studies where detecting IL17A is critical. It accurately measures the endogenous levels of this protein for accurate analysis and interpretation of experimental data. By targeting endogenous forms of IL17A, the IL17A Antibody is a valuable tool for understanding the function and role of this protein in the body. |

| Antigen | IL17A |
| Application | The recommended dilution range for primary antibodies varies depending on the application. For Western blot analysis, dilutions of 1:200 to 1:500 are suggested. When performing immunohistochemistry, dilutions of 1:50 to 1:200 are typically used. For immunofluorescence assays, dilutions of 1:20 to 1:50 are appropriate. ELISA assays using a peptide substrate typically require higher dilution ranges, with suggested dilutions ranging from 1:20,000 to 1:40,000. Regardless of the application, it is important to optimize dilutions for each antibody to ensure optimal performance. |
