Other names	Protein HUH1, also known as Chloride Intracellular Channel 4 (CLIC4), plays a crucial role in cellular chloride ion transport. CLIC4 exists in two forms: as a mitochondrial protein and as a cytoplasmic protein. Additionally, there is a protein similar to CLIC4 called Chloride Intracellular Channel 4-like (CLIC4L). CLIC4 is also referred to as Chloride Intracellular Channel protein 4 or p64H1. Other names for CLIC4 include DKFZP566G223, FLJ38640, H1, Intracellular chloride ion channel protein p64H1, MC3S5, mtCLIC, and p64H1. These different names reflect the various studies and findings that have identified and characterized this protein. Through its involvement in chloride ion transport, CLIC4 plays a role in various cellular processes and signaling pathways. Membrane insertion seems to be redox-regulated and may occur only under oxydizing conditions. Promotes cell-surface expression of HRH3. Has alternate cellular functions like a potential role in angiogenesis or in maintaining apical-basolateral membrane polarity during mitosis and cytokinesis. Could also promote endothelial cell proliferation and regulate endothelial morphogenesis (tubulogenesis).
