Other namesThe B cell receptor CD22, also known as B lymphocyte cell adhesion molecule (BL CAM), is a protein that plays a crucial role in the functioning of B lymphocytes. It is also referred to as CD22 antigen, CD22 molecule, CD22 protein, Lectin 2, Leu14, Lyb8, MGC130020, sialic acid binding Ig like lectin 2, Sialic acid binding immunoglobulin like lectin 2, Sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 2, SIGLEC 2, Siglec-2, SIGLEC2, and T cell surface antigen Leu 14. This protein is involved in the regulation of B cell activation and is critical for the development and maturation of B cells. It also plays a role in the recognition and binding of sialic acid-containing molecules, thereby mediating cell adhesion. CD22 is a potential target for therapeutic intervention in diseases such as autoimmune disorders, cancers, and infectious diseases. Understanding the structure and function of CD22 is important for developing new strategies to modulate its activity and improve human health.

SpecificityThe BL-CAM (Phospho-Tyr842) Antibody is able to identify the presence of BL-CAM that has been phosphorylated at Tyr842 at its endogenous levels. This means that when BL-CAM is in its phosphorylated state at this specific site, the antibody will be able to detect it.
Species ReactivityHuman
AntigenBL-CAM
ApplicationFor Western blot, the recommended dilution range is 1:1000-3000, while for immunohistochemistry, the recommended dilution range is 1:50-1:200. If you plan on using the technique of immunofluorescence or immunocytochemistry, it is recommended to dilute the antibodies at 1:100-1:500. For ELISA using peptides, the appropriate dilution range is from 1:20000-1:40000. It's important to note that all of these dilution ranges are developed based on the original text information, so using them as a guide will ensure accurate and reliable results.
ImmunogenA peptide synthesized from the human BL-CAM protein (Phospho-Tyr842) is now available. This newly developed peptide closely resembles the original sequence of BL-CAM and has been modified to contain a phosphorylated tyrosine at position 842. This modification enhances the peptide's functionality and makes it ideal for studying the signaling pathways of BL-CAM. Scientists can now utilize this highly similar peptide to investigate the role of BL-CAM in various biological processes and gain valuable insights into its functions.

Target

Background

Mediates B-cell B-cell interactions. May be involved in the localization of B-cells in lymphoid tissues. Binds sialylated glycoproteins; one of which is CD45. Preferentially binds to alpha-2,6-linked sialic acid. The sialic acid recognition site can be masked by cis interactions with sialic acids on the same cell surface. Upon ligand induced tyrosine phosphorylation in the immune response seems to be involved in regulation of B-cell antigen receptor signaling. Plays a role in positive regulation through interaction with Src family tyrosine kinases and may also act as an inhibitory receptor by recruiting cytoplasmic phosphatases via their SH2 domains that block signal transduction through dephosphorylation of signaling molecules.

Tissue specificityB-lymphocytes.
Posttranslational modificationPhosphorylation of Tyr-762, Tyr-807 and Tyr-822 are involved in binding to SYK, GRB2 and SYK, respectively. Phosphorylation of Tyr-842 is involved in binding to SYK, PLCG2 and PIK3R1/PIK3R2.Phosphorylated on tyrosine residues by LYN.
Celluar localizationExtracellular region or secreted;Plasma Membrane;
