Description | Our Baculovirus expression system is used to produce Recombinant Human Methionine Aminopeptidase 2. The target gene, which encodes Ala2-Tyr478, is expressed with a 6His tag at the N-terminus. We employ this system to efficiently generate a functional version of the protein for various research purposes. |
Other names | Peptidase M, also known as Methionine aminopeptidase 2 or MAP 2, is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in protein synthesis. It is also referred to as MetAP 2, p67, p67eIF2, or METAP2. Peptidase M acts by removing the amino acid methionine from the N-terminus of newly synthesized proteins. This post-translational modification is essential for proper protein functionality and stability. MAP 2 is involved in various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, and angiogenesis. Understanding the function and regulation of MAP 2 can provide insights into the development of potential therapeutic strategies for diseases associated with abnormal protein synthesis and metabolism. |

Concentration | The determination of greater than 95% through SDS-PAGE reduction indicates a high level of similarity. To elaborate, this method analyzes the protein samples by subjecting them to gel electrophoresis and reducing conditions. By utilizing this technique, it can be confidently concluded that the protein content exhibits a similarity of over 95%. This demonstrates the effectiveness and reliability of SDS-PAGE in assessing the similarity of proteins. |
Endotoxin_level | The LAL test reveals that the level of endotoxin in the substance is less than 0.1 ng/μg or 1 IEU/μg. |

Background | Human Methionine Aminopeptidase 2 (METAP2, MAP2) is a member of the M24 family of metalloproteases. METAPs catalyze the removal of the initiator methionine residue from nascent peptides and are essential for cell growth. MAP2 binds 2 cobalt or manganese ions and contains approximately 12 O-linked N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) residues. It is found in all organisms and is especially important because of its critical role in tissue repair and protein degradation. METAP2 plays an important role in the development of different types of cancer and has been a novel target for developing anti-cancer drugs. This protein functions both by protecting the alpha subunit of eukaryotic initiation factor 2 from inhibitory phosphorylation and by removing the amno-terminal methionine residue from nascent protein. MAP2 protects eukaryotic initiation factor EIF2S1 from translation-inhibiting phosphorylation by inhibitory kinases such as EIF2AK2/PKR and EIF2AK1/HCR. It also plays a critical role in the regulation of protein synthesis. |
