Description | SPDYA, also known as Speedy A, SPDY1, Ringo3, or SPY1, is a member of the speedy/ringo family and localizes to the nucleus. This 313 amino acid protein is expressed abundantly in the testis and to a lesser extent in the brain, kidney, heart, bone marrow, colon, lung, liver, spleen, and placenta. Its main function is to regulate the G1/S phase transition of the cell cycle by interacting with and activating Cdc2 p34, Cdk2, and p27. Moreover, Speedy A has been implicated in cell survival during DNA damage, indicating its role in maintaining proper cell cycle progression throughout the cell's lifespan. There are multiple isoforms of Speedy A due to alternative splicing events. The gene responsible for encoding Speedy A is found on human chromosome 2, which accounts for approximately 8% of the human genome and harbors more than 1,400 genes. |
| Other names | SPY/Ringo A, also known as MGC110856 or MGC57218, is a protein involved in the regulation of cell cycle progression. It is encoded by genes OTTHUMP00000082662, OTTHUMP00000082663, and OTTHUMP00000082664. In oocytes, SPY/Ringo A functions as a rapid inducer of G2/M progression, playing a crucial role in cell division and development. Other names for this protein include RINGO A, RINGO3, SPDY1, Speedy A, Speedy homolog 1 (Drosophila), Speedy homolog A, Speedy homolog A (Xenopus laevis), Speedy-1, and SPY1. |

| Specificity | The total SPDYA levels can be identified using an SPDYA Antibody, which is capable of detecting the endogenous levels within the system. A rearrangement of the original content would be as follows: The SPDYA Antibody is designed to detect the endogenous levels of total SPDYA, enabling researchers to accurately measure its presence. |

| Application | The recommended dilution for using the antibody in western blotting is within the range of 1:500 to 1:2000. For performing immunohistochemistry, a dilution of 1:50 to 1:200 is suggested. When using the antibody for ELISA with peptide, a dilution of 1:20000 to 1:40000 is considered to be optimal. It is important to adhere to the recommended dilution range to obtain accurate and reliable results. |

Target | |
Background | Regulates the G1/S phase transition of the cell cycle by binding and activating CDK1, CDK2 and CDKN1B/KIP1. Can activate CDK2 without promoting CDK2 phosphorylation. Mediates cell survival during the DNA damage process through activation of CDK2. |
| Tissue specificity | Highly expressed in testis. Expressed at a low level in wide range of tissues including bone marrow, brain, heart, kidney, colon, liver, placenta, spleen, skeletal muscle, salivary gland, thyroid gland, thymus, trachea and uterus. Expressed at a slightly higher level in adrenal gland, cerebellum, small intestine, lung, prostate and trachea. Expression is cell cycle-dependent, being restricted to cells in G1/S phase. |
