Other names	The RNA polymerase complex is a critical enzyme that transcribes DNA into RNA. It is composed of several subunits, including the 17.1 kDa polypeptide and subunit ABC3. These subunits are present in all three types of DNA-directed RNA polymerases (I, II, and III). Additionally, there is a specific subunit called H, which is found only in RNA polymerase II. In humans, this subunit is also known as hRPB8 or HsRPB8. The polypeptide H plays an essential role in regulating the activity of RNA polymerase II. Other names for RPABC3 include RPB17 and RPB8 homolog. Together, these subunits make up the complex machinery responsible for coordinating the transcription of genes from DNA to RNA.
