Overview

Description

Hydroxyapatite tightly binds to osteopontin, which is an essential component of the mineralized matrix. It plays a crucial role in cell-matrix interaction and belongs to the osteopontin family. Integrin alpha-V/beta-3 is a ligand for this protein. Alternative splicing of the human gene leads to the formation of four isoforms of this protein.

Other names

SPP1, also known as osteopontin, bone sialoprotein 1, or early T lymphocyte activation 1, is a protein that plays a role in a wide range of physiological processes. BNSP is another name for Bone sialoprotein 1. BSP I and BSPI are also used to refer to this protein. ETA 1 and ETA1 are also synonyms for SPP1. Nephropontin is yet another name for this multifunctional protein.
MGC110940 is a gene that encodes SPP1. The protein product of this gene is Urinary stone protein, or Uropontin. OSTP_HUMAN is the gene identification number for SPP1. PSEC0156 is another identifier for this protein.
SPP1 is a secreted phosphoprotein 1 that is involved in various cellular processes such as bone remodeling, inflammation, immune system regulation, and tissue repair. The osteopontin/immunoglobulin alpha 1 heavy chain constant region fusion protein is a fusion protein comprised of osteopontin and immunoglobulin alpha 1 heavy chain constant region.
One of the interesting features of SPP1/CALPHA1 fusion is its role in cancer progression. This protein has been implicated in promoting tumor growth and metastasis in a variety of cancers. Overall, SPP1 is a versatile protein that functions in many different biological contexts, making it an important target for therapeutic intervention in various diseases.

Specificity

The antibody for Osteopontin is designed to specifically detect and quantify the levels of endogenous Osteopontin in a sample. By targeting the total amount of Osteopontin, this antibody allows researchers to study its expression and determine its role in various biological processes.

Species Reactivity

Human;Mouse;Rat

Application

Western blot (WB) is commonly performed at dilutions ranging from 1:500 to 1:3000. For immunofluorescence (IF) or immunocytochemistry (ICC) assays, the typical dilutions would be 1:100 to 1:500. Lastly, when conducting ELISA using peptide antigens, dilutions of 1:20000 to 1:40000 are recommended. It is important to note that these dilutions are based on the original text information and should be followed accordingly.

Immunogen

A human Osteopontin synthesized peptide has been developed, which closely resembles the original protein sequence. The synthesized peptide has been created by rearranging the amino acid sequence of human Osteopontin to produce a highly similar molecule. This new peptide has potential uses in medical research and treatments, as well as in diagnostic testing. By utilizing this synthesized peptide, scientists can gain a better understanding of the structure and function of Osteopontin in the human body, leading to potential breakthroughs in the field of medicine.
