abs139532
Other namesThe Calcium channel L type alpha 1 polypeptide isoform 2, also known as CACNL1A2, Voltage gated calcium channel alpha 1 subunit or CACNA 1D, is a key component of the voltage-dependent L-type calcium channel complex. It plays a critical role in regulating calcium ion flux into cells, thereby impacting a variety of physiological processes ranging from muscle contraction to hormone release. The alpha-1 polypeptide subunit of this channel is encoded by the CACNA1D gene and is expressed predominantly in the brain, heart, and endocrine tissues.
Other names for this protein include CAC1D_HUMAN, CACN4, Cacna1d, CACNL1A2, Calcium channel, Calcium channel neuroendocrine/brain type alpha 1 subunit, Calcium channel voltage dependent L type alpha 1D subunit, Cav1.3, CCHL1A2, isoform 2, L type, PASNA, SANDD, Voltage dependent L type calcium channel subunit alpha 1D, and Voltage-dependent L-type calcium channel subunit alpha-1D. Regardless of the name used, all of these proteins share the same essential function and play a crucial role in regulating calcium signaling in the body.
Despite its importance, the Voltage-dependent L-type calcium channel subunit alpha-1D is also associated with a number of diseases and disorders. These include hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, and neurological disorders such as epilepsy. As such, a better understanding of this protein and its function is critical for the development of effective treatments and therapies for these conditions. Ongoing research is focused on identifying new drug targets and developing novel therapies that can target this protein specifically to modulate its activity and improve health outcomes for patients.
SourceRabbit
SpecificityThe total CACNA1D levels can be detected by the CACNA1D Antibody, which is capable of identifying the endogenous amounts of this protein. To emphasize, it should be noted that the content generated should differ significantly from the original text and not follow the style of conversation used by ChapGPT.

Target

Background

Voltage-sensitive calcium channels (VSCC) mediate the entry of calcium ions into excitable cells and are also involved in a variety of calcium-dependent processes, including muscle contraction, hormone or neurotransmitter release, gene expression, cell motility, cell division and cell death. The isoform alpha-1D gives rise to L-type calcium currents. Long-lasting (L-type) calcium channels belong to the 'high-voltage activated' (HVA) group. They are blocked by dihydropyridines (DHP), phenylalkylamines, benzothiazepines, and by omega-agatoxin-IIIA (omega-Aga-IIIA). They are however insensitive to omega-conotoxin-GVIA (omega-CTx-GVIA) and omega-agatoxin-IVA (omega-Aga-IVA).

Tissue specificityExpressed in pancreatic islets and in brain, where it has been seen in cerebral cortex, hippocampus, basal ganglia, habenula and thalamus. Expressed in the small cell lung carcinoma cell line SCC-9. No expression in skeletal muscle.
