The corresponding protein, also known as CAP-Gly domain-containing linker protein 4 or Restin-like protein 2, belongs to a family of proteins that contain a conserved CAP-Gly domain involved in microtubule binding. Clip4/RSLN2 is thought to play a role in regulating microtubule dynamics and intracellular transport. The structure of the protein consists of a central linker region flanked by two CAP-Gly domains. Mutations in the CLIP4 gene have been associated with developmental disorders such as intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder. Further research is needed to fully understand the function of Clip4/RSLN2 in normal and pathological conditions.
